Onward!

I'm a teacher by trade. Certified by the state of NJ and everything. I love teaching. LOVE. Actually, I don't so much love teaching as watching others learn. I love learning with other people, especially kids.

I used to be a scientist. I have the fancy pieces of paper attesting to it... around here... somewhere. Really, I'm still a scientist. You can never stop being a scientist, any more than you can stop being an artist.

And I'm a mom. And a business owner. And a school volunteer. And a theater lover, a music lover, a food lover. And a devotee of all things sci-fi, geeky and nerdy.

I like to write.

Recently, I starting on yet another scary journey. I started homeschooling my 9-year-old dyslexic daughter, Caitie. It's exciting! I'm busting with ideas! So is she! (This combination occasionally causes trouble.) Language, science, math, art! So much time to spend together, at this important transition between girlhood and womanhood. A chance to rebuild the confidence she's lost and support her as she learns who she wants to be. The endless possibilities of the open road!

However...

I'm reasonably sure I'll screw this up. Monumentally. I'll be paying for therapy and tutors before long. I'm carrying a bit of anxiety, you know?

Breathe...

I can do this. We can do this.
